It's that time again! Here are a few spring
maintenance tips for your home:
- Test all smoke detectors and replace
batteries as needed.
- Clean or replace your furnace filter.
- Check your water heater for any leaks
or corrosion. Partially draining the water heater
once a year can extend its life and provide more efficient,
energy saving operation.
- Clean out all sink, tub and shower drains
and repair/replace any leaky or corroded fixtures.
- Test GFI electrical circuits in kitchen,
baths, garage and outside your home.
- Lubricate your garage door system and
tighten all bolts for smoother, safer operation.
- Have your roof professionally inspected
for any winter rain damage.
- Clean out gutters and downspouts to keep
debris from accumulating.
FALLWINTERCHECK LIST
- Caulk bathroom joints that are subject
to being wetted; prevents leaks, dry rot, mold and mildew.
- Clean aerators on faucets and shower
heads.
- Clean sliding glass door tracks and
lubricate rollers, hinges and latches.
- Flush yard drains to prevent backing
up flooding during the rainy season.
- Maintain positive drainage away from
buildings.
- Inspect & adjust irrigation sprinklers
to prevent excessive watering that could cause staining
and rot of exterior walls & structures.
- Test GFCI receptacles.
- Test smoke detectors and change batteries.
